Oh, poor Jeff.... You just don't see the larger picture.
I introduce you to prophet Kevin Smith, who levies some much needed wisdom about twilight.
My favorite line: "How dare you pass judgment on those thirteen year old girls who like vampires. They need to be encouraged! Because in six years, they'll be eighteen year old girls who like vampires... Don't poo-poo it. There's a plan. And it's working."

I see the logic in your, and Kevin's, poorly conceived universe. If Twilight is the direction this group is going, after being paved by Trekkies and Star Wars Fans, I fear the future. You assume the majority of these teenage-crazed fans will accept other topics within the genre (Star Trek to Star Wars), but it has only spawned copycats (SINCE I work at a bookstore, I have authority in seeing what they buy after finishing the books) of other teenage-romance vampire books (which, by the way, are actually written better than Twilight... her grammar use is so elementary, it's beyond annoying). Think of it this way: these fans are like the Star Wars fans. Those into Star Trek like Star Wars. Those into Star Wars HATE anything else... particularly Star Trek. This will be Twilight. They will only like Twilight in their nerdiness. Nothing more. So I AM looking at the big picture. You are living in a dream-world with Kevin Smith... though that is not a bad place to live in...
